A collaboration between the University of Surrey, Lancaster University, and Brunel University London led to Vidiia's formation, transforming their LAMP technologies, initially developed for a BBSRC-funded poultry project in the Philippines, into a COVID-19 test. The research paper (10.3389/fmolb.2023.1144001) highlights how the pandemic drove demand for fast, affordable, and accessible diagnostics, addressing critical COVID-19 testing bottlenecks and enabling broader diagnostic applications.
Our COVID-19 test, developed in record time, achieved 98% sensitivity and 100% specificity, earning UK government approval under the Medical Devices Coronavirus Test Device regulations. Building on this success, Vidiia supplies agile research tools that drive translational impact and collaborates with researchers to develop new assays through our Assay Accelerator program.
