About Alnibras
The origins of Al Nibras for Science and Technology date back to 1991, at that time trading under another company. The main objective of the company was to supply educational, scientific and technical equipment as well as consumables to three of the most important sectors in Libya, namely the educational, building & construction and petro-chemical fields.
From these sectors alone within the second year of operation, the company was already on its feet. The operation had successfully managed to obtain six out of the nine existing universities as regular clients on a yearly basis. We then decided to recruit further personnel; strengthen our position in the market and started marketing our services to Research Institutes and Health Sector amongst others.
By the year 2002 we have established ourselves as a leading supplier of scientific and technical equipment in Libya to the educational, research and petrochemical sector. The operation was being coordinated between our head-office in Tripoli, Libya and a support office in Malta.
Economic signs and forecasts were indicating that the Libyan market was to be liberalized and become commercially competitive. At this time the board of directors decided to set-up a Libyan company and to clearly identify our objectives and potential markets and in 2003, Al-Nibras for Science & Technology was registered as a Libyan company.
Under Al-Nibras for Science & Technology two main divisions were set-up. One known as the Building and Construction Division under which we represent exclusively Leica Geosystems, Leica GIS and Mapping Division. The other division is the Scientific and Instrumentation Division under which we exclusive represent Thermo Fisher Scientific, Sigma-Aldrich and Barloworld Scientific amongst others.
In order to offer a complete service, we further invested into after sales services and established an official workshop. Obviously this meant a huge investment in equipment, human resources and training.
All this paid off as we are proud to say that we have now obtained an official qualification and certification of this workshop thus empowering us even to issue certificates on behalf of Leica Geosystems itself. This was a door opener which brought substantial business from major international companies that operate in the Libyan market.
The company is still investing into its structure by recruiting more personnel and attending to sales and service training programmes, enabling us to update ourselves with the continuous evolvement in science and infrastructural developments.
