Dissolution testing

Dissolution is a test used by the Pharmaceutical industry to characterize the dissolution properties of the active drug, the active drug's release and the dissolution from a dosage formulation. Dissolution testing is used to formulate the drug dosage form and to develop quality control specifications for its manufacturing process. In-vitro Dissolution test is a critical test that has to correlate with in-vivo clinical studies and which could require specific method developments. Dissolution testing is described in many pharmacopeias, in EP, USP chapters and FDA guidelines.

Physical Testing

The SOTAX Physical Testing range has started more than 30 years ago. SOTAX Galenical products or Pharmacotechnie products have first been designed for Disintegration Testing. The DT3 is still used in some pharmaceutical labs and has been one of the most reliable manual Disintegration Tester ever made. A few years after, the DT3 has been automated with new baskets and finally has been replaced by the actual DT2. The Disintegration Tester DT 2 is already a great success due to its simplicity of use and its flexibility to allow Manual Disintegration and Automated Disintegration on the same instrument on 3 or 6 tubes' baskets. SOTAX physical testing range has been developed in the last fifteen years with Friability Testing, Powder Flow Testing, Tap Density Testing.
