ViennaLab - Established Innovations in Diagnostics
ViennaLab, founded 1990, develops and manufactures products for medical in-vitro diagnostics in the fields of genetic diseases and predispositions, pharmacogenetics, and oncology.
ViennaLab focus on cardiovascular diseases and inherited disorders of iron metabolism (haemochromatosis). The range of products also includes diagnostic kits for Thalassemia, Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), Gaucher Disease, Alzheimer, HLA-B27, and Sugar & Lactose Intolerance. New kits are launched every year. The recent CAH StripAssay for neonatal screening helps earlier results to confirm CAH.
In the Pharmacogenetics line ViennaLab offers kits for better therapies with coumarin (PGX-Thrombo), tiopurines (PGX-TPMT), HAART (PGX-HIV), flourouracil (PGX-5FU), KRAS & BRAF.
The technology of ViennaLab's StripAssays is based on reverse-hybridization and PCR amplification.
It involves three steps: DNA isolation, specific gene sequences are amplified and biotin-labelled in a single multiplex amplification reaction and the amplified products are selectively hybridized to a test strip, which contains oligonucleotide probes immobilized as parallel lines. Bound biotinylated sequences are detected using streptavidin-alkaline phosphatase and color substrates. Results are visible to naked eye.
A software scans the results and helps generating reports and storing patients' data.
ViennaLab aims at marketing its products internationally in close collaboration with highly committed distributing partners.
