Supporting medical research through blood donations
From our facility near Canary Wharf in east London we support life-science researchers worldwide

Medicine is being transformed in the 21st century as new technologies are being developed which use our blood and the immune system it contains, to detect, treat and prevent disease.

We recognised the need for a European source of fresh, highly characterised human blood biospecimens for research and in 2018 we created Research Donors to address this.

Since then we have grown significantly and we now work with many leading research orgnanisations in the biotech, pharma and academic sectors.

In 2022 Research Donors became part of the Europa Biosite Group of companies, serving life science researchers across Europe by providing advanced tools and resources to enable their research.

We are continuing to grow and develop our service, helping us to achieve our long-term goal of becoming a leading international supplier of human biospecimens for research and clinical applications.

What we do
We recruit healthy volunteer donors to meet the blood biospecimen requirements of our clients. To-date we have recruited more than 5,000 donors, who enable researchers to access precisely defined blood samples to support their research and development activities.

We operate from our blood donation centre and onsite processing lab in London collecting samples via whole blood and apheresis methods. This facility is located in a highly populated and diverse community, close to the UK’s leading bioscience research centres and with excellent transport links across Europe. We have secured a license from the Human Tissue Authority and Research Ethics Approval from the NHS Health Research Authority which demonstrate our commitment to professional standards and integrity. Our ‘Industry-grade’ procedures and documentation and consistently high sample quality have enabled us to build a customer base of more than 200 clients across the CRO, pharma, biotech, diagnostics and academic research markets.

Working with us
Research Donors is focused on building its sample collection and processing capabilities. We work in partnership with a select few partners to support our commercial interactions with customers around the world.

We are continuing to develop and expand our capabilities and we welcome the chance to discuss new opportunities and partnerships with interested researchers, as well as new potential commercial partners.
